Vetoes vetoed by DemsLen Lazarick, The ExaminerApr 11, 2006 7:00 AM Annapolis - For the 34th time since he became governor three years ago, Democratic legislators have voted to override vetoes by Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich. In almost straight party-line votes, lawmakers voted to approve bills over Ehrlich’s objection to establish early voting procedures that Republicans say help Democrats get elected and encourage fraud by not asking voters for photo identification. They also voted to override vetoes of a bill that targets Ehrlich Cabinet secretaries if he wins re-election and one that would toss his chief fundraiser off the University System Board of Regents. The debate was almost entirely dominated by Republicans trying to sustain the governor’s vetoes, though a couple of Democrats did join them in supporting Ehrlich’s stand.Sen. Allan Kittleman, R-Howard, said that the “voter’s rights” bill was “incredibly bad,” taking power away from local election boards, always in the control of the governor’s party, and giving it to the state election administrator, a Democrat.

The Maryland legislature Democrats are showing themselves to be a rubberstamp towing of the party line. They are afraid that Maryland is becoming less and less of a blue state and are trying to illegally pick up votes. Oh wait it wont be illegal if they change the laws, will it? [sarcasm mine]
