Crisfield Maryland's Clean Sweep
CRISFIELD - Voters in Crisfield elect to go in a new direction. Three city council seats and the position of mayor are in new hands tonight.
In the race for mayor Councilman Percy Purnell beat 16-year incumbent Richard Scott.
Percy Purnell, 640 Votes
Richard Scott, 171 Votes
In the city council incumbents lose-out as well.
Here are the leading vote getters:
Raymond Anderson (500 votes)
Mr. Kim Lawson (461)
Barry Dize (451)
LaVerne Johnson takes the seat vacated by Purnell with 309 votes.
Incumbents Catherine Brown and Daniel Thompson received 232 and 156 votes, respectively.
These results are unofficial. About 80 absentee votes remain.
The moral of this story may just be: Let the citizens give input in city council or they will out-put you in the voting booth. Congrats winners.
