The group is collecting signatures to put the early voting legislation passed by greedy Democrats during the last legislative session on the November ballot for voters to decide. The group collected 20,000 signatures for each of the two petitions, 3,000 more than necessary for each petition. In a news release to the public about the effort, the chairman made these comments: “Ensuring a safe and fair elections system is the bedrock of American democracy,” said Tom Roskelly, chairman of Marylanders for Fair Elections. “This effort is a clear indication that Marylanders not only deserve, but are willing to fight for a clean and fair election.” Republicans, Democrats and Independents are signing the petition in droves because of the transparent efforts by some Democrats to create an uneven playing field and commit fraud in our upcoming elections. But the effort still has a way to go. We still need 30,000 signatures at least by June 30th to effectively stop early voting’s implementation and let the people decide the issue themselves.
