I think what you have to keep in mind is that there are two kinds of Russian women: those who choose to stay in their country and make things work there, and those who come to the United States. I have many friends who have married Russian women (as I worked there for two years) and the problem is that many of these women are marrying you not out of love but for money and for the chance to become wealthy. I would highly encourage any guy to think twice about marrying even a "legitimate" Russian woman as there are many, many problems with this kind of marriage. There is a very strong possibility that the woman you marry will be a "good" wife and person until she gets her green card and a good job, and then she will go shopping to upgrade her husband. Think about it, the women willing to leave behind their family and friends to marry a relative stranger will have no problem leaving you once she has gotten what she needed from you.
Also, the divorce rate in Russia is at least as high as in the United States. Guys, take it from someone with a lot of personal experience with Russians and work a little harder to find a girl who you have many things in common with. On the other hand, if you are very wealthy then go ahead as you will not have any problems. That's kind of the way it is.
I do not mean to put down Russians and Russia, as I am very fond of both, but there is a big difference between Russians in Russia and those who come the U.S. A lot of times they have money and visions of wealth and image from American TV and movies in their eyes, and it will be difficult to live up to that. Also, I hate to say it, but for some reason the Russian culture about lying is much different than in America. Not that Americans do not lie, but some Russians have raised it to an art form.
Finally, if you really must marry a Russian woman, make sure you know Russian, or you will have no clue what she is thinking or doing behind your back. If you really love this girl, think about living in Russia with her for at least a few years, there are opportunities over there for business people or for English teachers.
Think twice. Think thrice before going this route in marriage.
